The Whippoorwill Club
The
Whippoorwill Club
founded in 1928 and located in Armonk, NY. This masterful layout was designed
by Donald Ross and Charles H. Banks. Typical of a Ross layout there is
much generosity given to the tee shot, but after that all bets are off.
Whippoorwill demands that all long and short irons into the greens be
of pinpoint accuracy. If that's not enough, the day I played this past
fall, the greens were rolling somewhere between 13 and 14. What an absolute
pleasure it was.
This grand old course stretches
out over some of the most beautiful rolling hills in Westchester. The membership
is an awesome group of people, and supported by Jim Wahl, Head PGA Professional
and his great staff.
